The Trip That Wasn’t…Yet

So, today would have been the last day on our Mediterranean cruise. As I mentioned in a previous post, my best friends and I have been planning (and saving) for five years for this trip. We were going to celebrate our 50th birthdays in style. We booked a great suite on the ship and we were going to have the best time! But, alas, the current pandemic changed our plans for us. The following was our itinerary:

Friday, June 12, 2020 – fly to Barcelona, Spain
Saturday, June 13, 2020 – land in Barcelona and spend the day sightseeing. I was also going to reach out to a friend from college as I have not seen him since college.
Sunday, June 14, 2020 – get in some last minute sightseeing and then board the ship. We were to depart at 1800.
Monday, June 15, 2020 – Palma de Mallorca, Spain
Tuesday, June 16, 2020 – Provence (Marseille), France
Wednesday, June 17, 2020 – Florence/Pisa (Laspezia), Italy
Thursday, June 18, 2020 – Rome (Civitavecchia), Italy
Friday, June 19, 2020 – Naples, Italy
Saturday, June 20, 2020 – Crusing
Sunday, June 21, 2020 – arrive back in Barcelona
Sunday, June 21, 2020 – fly to Boston, MA

The good news is that this same exact cruise will be available in June 2021 and we are hoping that by that time, the pandemic will be over and that we will be able to cruise. So, we have to wait another, which is not ideal, but at least we will still be able to go. What we are hoping is that at some point this year we may be able to take a short long-weekend trip to celebrate this year and then GO BIG next year.

Granted, I know that this is small in comparison to what is going on in the world at this time, but it is something that I wanted to share. I will be posting about what is happening in the world and resources that are available for those who want to learn more, but I need some time to gather those resources and ensure what I am sharing is relevant, truthful, and appropriate.

As always, thanks for reading.
